WELCOME TO THE TOWN OF ELK!
The current population of the Town of Elk is estimated to be 1,037 full time residents and an unknown number in the summer. Approximately 891 are eligible voters.
Our township has 49 miles of town road and county roads W, F and S.
We also have one township public landing on Soo Lake, one on Grassy Lake, and two on Wilson Flowage. There are two DNR state boat landings in the township – one on Soo Lake and the other on Wilson Flowage. The Elk River runs through our township, and we have two dams in the township – Jobes Dam which controls the waters of Long Lake and Wilson Flowage and the Weimer Dam which controls the waters of Soo Lake.
